Located in Rowville, South East Melbourne, Loaded Barrel is family-owned and proudly independent.

A project of passion from Head Distiller and owner, Bob Wilhelm.
2018 was the year that Loaded barrel was conceived, a distillery that was independent and family run. The goal was to create a family legacy, but more importantly, damn good whisky and gin - the stuff you dream of drinking as you watch your clock slowly tick down to 5pm on a weekday. With a small team of 3 staff, every bottle of spirit gets the time and attention it deserves. Loaded Barrel prides themselves on creating spirits that reinvent tradition.

This 2.5hr tasting experience is perfect for whisky lovers, the whisky curious and fanatics, alike.

Guests will receive a Loaded Barrel Rye cocktail on arrival and sample 5 whiskies from the Laoded Barrel Range, each paired with specially selected food items from Arcadia’s menu.

Whisky 1
Single Malt - Decadent, Delicious…Dangerously good. A whisky that can’t be ignored and designed to change your taste perceptions - while still tasting like great whisky.

Paired with: Tomato and Basil Arancini

Whisky 2
Small Batch Wheat - A wonderful wheat best enjoyed neat (or on ice). This lovely double-malt drop is the first of our new Small Batch Series, and one of our favourites with its contrast of deep virgin-oak driven flavour and the fruitiness of our wheat malt.

Paired with: Garlic Chilli Prawn

Whisky 3
Rye - Vanilla, smoke, spice and everything nice, this whisky comes with a perfect marriage of a 3-flavour combo. Barley and rye whisky finished in a cold-smoked ex-red wine barrel for an extra dimension.

Paired with: Mixed mushroom bruschetta with whipped ricotta on rye.

Whisky 4
Small Batch Single Malt - Looking like a heavily sherried Highlander, this whisky comes matured in a range of casks, including x-Shiraz and Serbian oak. The nose sets dusty cocoa and dry wood against biscuity malt and vanilla; the palate richer and more giving with the sweetness of American oak threading through the creamy mouthfeel. Finished by lively spices and alcohol warmth, there are gently grippy tannins with hints of toffee and late vanilla in the rebound.

Butterscotch - For the sweet tooth, Loaded Barrel Butterscotch Whisky Liqueur is created rich, silky, and sweet. We use our signature Single Malt Whisky as a base to add oak and fruits, and we combine this with a luxurious butterscotch to create a well balanced, dessert style liqueur with a difference.

Paired with: Sticky Date Pudding
